Six honored during Lane College softball senior day
Jackson, Tenn (April 20, 2017) - Showers in the area, not even the final score could dampen the mood of the six seniors playing their final home game as a Lane College Dragon. Oesha O'Neal, Desiray Sturgeon, Amecia Nichols, Sherica Bradford, Shoundedra Mack and Brittany McElvain all stepped on to the field at Muse Park in Jackson for the last time.
Lane College head coach Roger Ogden said the contributions these six young ladies have made, not only to the softball program, but to the betterment of the institution of Lane College is immeasurable.
"You can tell by our win-loss record over the course of time [that they were here] they've really made an impact and have just been a blessing to be a coach of," Ogden said.
He said these six players have been a big part of the foundation of the Lane College softball program and that will be a big part of their legacy.
"That's definitely part of our foundation of this program," Ogden said. "We are trying to build this into being a competitive program each and every year.
"And those six ladies that have played with us over the course of their time is part of the foundation of building that culture that we need to bring in competitive student-athletes."
