University of Memphis Places Social Work Intern at Fayette Cares

Fayette Cares welcomes Madison Parris, their first intern from The University of Memphis School of Social Work.   Parris will work as an intern under the supervision of Fayette Cares Victim Advocate Mara White applying classroom learnings to real world circumstances.

Field placement activities are an integral part of social work education, allowing students the opportunity to gain experience in the field prior to graduating.  At Fayette Cares Parris will gain a wealth of knowledge and insight responding to problems faced by the homeless, victims of domestic violence, and families in financial crisis.  Parris will help respond to requests for services including emergency shelter and food, crisis financial aid (rent, mortgage, and utilities), safety planning, court accompaniment, and advocacy.

Interns can gain a head start in their career fields and sometimes secure full-time employment with their internship site upon graduation.

To learn more about intern field placements and the work of Fayette Cares visit FayetteCares.org or call (901) 465-3802.  Fayette Cares is a United Way member agency.
