Jackson-Madison Chapter DAR Announces February 2018 Media Award Winners
Jackson-Madison Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution [NSDAR] announced the winner of the Award of Excellence in Outstanding Print Media, and the winner of the Award for Excellence in Outstanding Broadcast Media at their annual Membership Coffee held at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson on February 10, 2018.
The Award of Excellence for Outstanding Print Media was presented to Ted Kluck. Mr. Kluck is the author of over twenty books on topics ranging from Mike Tyson to professional indoor football to the evangelical church. He is a syndicated columnist for the Jackson Sun and USA Today, and his journalism has appear in ESPN the Magazine, ESPN.com, and Christianity Today. Ted once wrote 50 children’s books for a Chinese publisher and has ghostwritten for a Pro Football Hall of Famer, a filmmaker, a missionary, and a current NFL player. Ted is an assistant professor of journalism at Union University.
The Award of Excellence for Outstanding Broadcast Media was presented to Brittany Hardaway. Ms. Hardaway is a graduate of Southern Illinois University—Carbondale. While at SIU Ms. Hardaway was the President of the National Association of Black Journalists as well as a multimedia journalist, producer and anchor for the student-produced newscast. She was also the recipient of the Illinois Broadcasters Association multicultural internship where she was able to intern and eventually work part time as an associate producer at WSIL-TV 3. Ms. Hardaway graduated with a Bachelor's degree in radio/ television in May 2016. Shortly after graduation she packed her bags and moved to Jackson, TN to join the WBBJ-TV family.
Jackson-Madison Chapter honors Mr. Kluck and Ms. Hardaway for their professionalism and for their dedication to our community.
DAR is known as the largest women’s patriotic organization in the United States and has over 185,000 members with 3000 chapters in 50 states and 11 foreign countries. DAR is one of the world’s largest and most active service organizations. DAR is non-partisan and non-political, and welcomes any woman, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineage to a Revolutionary War patriot.
