HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO OFFER PFIZER COVID-19 VACCINE TO CHILDREN AGES 5 TO 11 FRIDAYS ONLY
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department will begin giving Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 pediatric vaccine to children ages 5 to 11 on Fridays only, starting Apr. 22, 2022.
Pediatric COVID-19 vaccine will be available for children ages 5 to 11 this week Thursday, Apr. 14 due to the Good Friday holiday.
“We’re giving a small amount of COVID-19 vaccine to children in this age group each day,” Regional Director Kim Tedford said. “When we open a bottle of pediatric Pfizer vaccine, we have to use all the doses within a certain amount of time or throw them away. This change will help reduce the amount of wasted vaccine.”
Children ages 5 to 11 who receive Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 pediatric vaccine will receive two doses spaced 21 days apart.
Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department offers COVID-19 vaccinations Monday through Friday. No appointment required. COVID-19 vaccines are available during the following hours:
Monday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Children may receive the COVID-19 vaccine and other vaccines at the same time.
