UPDATED COVID-19 VACCINE BOOSTERS AVAILABLE AT HEALTH DEPARTMENT STARTING SEPT. 12
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department will begin offering updated COVID-19 vaccine boosters to individuals 12 and older Monday, Sept. 12, 2022.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently approved a new Moderna COVID-19 vaccine booster and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine booster. The new boosters, known as bivalent vaccines, target the original virus and omicron variant.
Individuals must meet the following criteria to receive an updated booster:
12 years of age and older
Completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine at least two months prior
The health department will offer first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine to individuals completing their primary series on Wednesdays only starting Sept. 14, 2022.
Children ages 5 to 11 are still eligible to receive a monovalent COVID-19 vaccine booster shot 5 months after completing their primary series. The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department offers Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 6 months to 11 years on Fridays only.
Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
Children may receive a COVID-19 vaccine and other vaccines at the same time.
